Real solutions for rural communities
New Rural Virginia is an organization that advocates for the well-being and prosperity of rural communities.
The needs and aspirations of rural communities in Virginia are too often given lip service during election season only to be overlooked the rest of the year. As a result, rural areas have fallen behind cities and suburbs in education, health and child care, economic development and job opportunities. Changing that reality, with the goal to foster more prosperous, sustainable rural communities is the reason for this initiative.
Our mission:
To educate, communicate and advocate for policies that help strengthen rural communities in Virginia.
We aim to:
📣 Promote policies, principles, and values relevant to rural Virginia communities
through analysis, communication, and education.
⚖️ Fill a niche in our community-wide conversations
where Democratic visions and policies too often overlook, and Republican visions and policies often run counter to, the real needs of rural communities.
🧑🏼🌾 Advocate for policies that improve the lives of rural Virginians,
including in agriculture, climate & energy, economic development, education, health and child care, affordable housing, land use, and taxation.
📰 Provide accountability
when rural Virginian communities are not well served by our governing bodies.
